Welcome to Alum Rock - New Students
Student registration for students new to the district for the School Year 2025-2026 is open! There are three methods to start your enrollment:
- Online: Enroll using the buttons below
- In-Person: Visit us at any of our schools or visit the District Office at 2930 Gay Ave, San Jose, CA 95127
- Over the Phone: Call us at 408-928-6945
Continue at Alum Rock - Returning Students
If you live within ARUSD Boundaries: Students living in our boundaries will continue in ARUSD. Families should continue to follow the guidance provided by your school and any letters provided from Student Services.
If you live outside ARUSD Boundaries: Students living outside our boundaries will receive information about required information to continue at ARUSD. Families should continue to follow the guidance provided by your school and any letters provided from Student Services.

Requirements to Enroll
Ages for Enrollment & Grade Placement (TK - 8)
It is recognized that students do their best work in school when they are placed in a grade with other students of the same chronological age. Please contact your home school if you have any questions regarding grade-level placement.

Intra-District Transfers (Transfers Within ARUSD)
The Alum Rock School District (Intra-district) process allows parents of students who reside within the Alum Rock School District boundaries to request a transfer from their school of residence (home school) to another school within the Alum Rock School District. Intra District Transfer requests will be processed and approved based on space availability at the requested school.
If you would like to attend a school that is not your assigned boundary school, please fill out and submit the Intra-District Transfer Form for approval.
Inter-District Transfers (Transfers Between ARUSD and Another District)
The Inter-district Transfer process applies to parents who would like their student(s) to attend a school in a district other than their residential district. All Inter-district requests are initiated at the district of residence and must be renewed annually since Inter-district transfers are valid for one (1) school year. An approved Inter-district Transfer agreement must be in effect between the district of residence and the school district desired before a student can attend the desired school.
- Transportation services for Inter-district transfer students will not be provided by the district.
- Inter-district transfer agreements must be renewed annually
If you would like to attend ARUSD or a district other than ARUSD, download the Inter-District Form and email it to studentservices@arusd.org or you may drop if off at the Alum Rock Union School District Student Services Department, 2930 Gay Ave, San Jose, CA 95127, Building 200.
